PEOPLE: COLLEEN PEACH & PATRICK McCOLLOUGH
As Vice President of the Illuminating Engineering Society - Los Angeles (IESLA), our Senior Associate, Colleen Peach, attended the IES National Conference in Portland. Representing Los Angeles and KGM, she accepted the 2017 Illumination Award on behalf of our team for our work on Westfield Terminal 2!
Led by Senior Associate, Patrick McCollough, and Partner, Dave McCarroll, this project won the Special Citation for Interior Lighting Design.
"The most critical lighting design choice was to allow as much natural light into the terminal without being offensive to the visitors. The massive metal “wave” structures were internally illuminated using a rhythm of linear LED wall grazers. Resting on the screens structural members provided the ideal location for these LED fixtures to graze the interior acrylic panels which highlighted the metal panels irregular pattern. The acrylic transparency helped to emphasize the metal panel's design during the day, screen out the excess natural light, while also creating a dynamic lighting element in the evening." - Patrick McCollough
